(with a sly / im-just-kidding type of look) then just be frank and tell your story - you're in town taking care of your mom, thought she was cute, and was wondering if she was free for a cup of coffee.. ie: maybe show you what's good in town much like nick's impersonations of "ohhh, i love apple pie!" hahaha. just, be creative! :D you have many, many, many options...
