I know because as an assistant manager in a shoe store, i've been gaming girls while working for the past 8 months. Main reason this wont work in retail. The same girl doesnt come by every single day for the same pair of shoes. My strategy here is. 1.- Greet her and let her walk around for a bit 2.- After about 30 seconds you ask her if she needs help with anything. if she does, you help like you would normally help a costumer, BUT, you mention something about what she's wearing, clothes, accesoires, and even shopping bags is something worth mentioning. 3.- if by now she is slightly intrested she will talk to you and answer your questions more openly instead of replying with a simple yes or no, wich means you can take it up a notch by asking for example if she has anything exiting planned for the weekend, if she has a boyfriend, this is usually the moment they will tell you EG: Yea im having dinner with my boyfriend etc... 4.- When she is done talking/paying/ ready to leave, that is the moment you strike. I usually try to make things sound a little more exciting then they are by saying something like "You know I'm really not allowed to ask you this with the boss watching, but I'd love to call you sometimes if you dont mind" keep in mind you are sort of whispering this to add excitement. for me this has worked for a long time and I generally get a few numbers a week.
