Ask The Social Man: girls who won't accept compliments

Hey guys,
Have to say another great question selection. I had this problem awhile back with this girl. I also found timing to the situation also works too. There is this girl at my work who has been through two long relationships to the point from the age of 15 to 22 she has only been single for 2 weeks. I have always played the hopeless romantic. Which has shown to have success. It was through the idea of the way she talked she was holding up walls against men for what happend in the past. I have broken down to the point where we talk whenever and am able to give her a rose or small gift on when she is having a bad day. Also the occassional adventure every now and again. In this I am still having issues of getting those walls completely broken to the chance of having a relationship with her. Should I just continue on course or what?

I'd defer to the comments of Nick & Christian, but if you're playing the part of the romantic and gift giving to a woman you're not involved with, then in spite of how nice she may think you are, she likely views your gift giving as an attempt to win her affections - which is a display of low value (weird isnt it?!) I think you could gain a lot of insight on how to 'win her over' by paying attention to some of the other videos that they've posted here.

In your specific example, don't give too much to someone without a clear reason for doing so. It's sort of like the compliment advice they give out, by giving too much, you may have placed yourself into the category of 'insincere' and as such, while she likes the attention - she may not have earned it and as such she views it as friendly gestures instead of the intent that you want.

Insightful answer, though I don't totally agree with you guys. I have to say that a girl can (sure, some won't) accept a compliment from someone with "lower social value" as long as the compliment is genuine and you are confident in delivering it. I find the whole "social value" thing a bit contorted to be honest. As an example, if an average looking girl gives me a compliment in a sincere way and she's nice I'm going to accept it.
